Volume 10, Number 11

THIS MONTH

On April 9th, Funny Business Clowns presents a lecture by Ken "Flash" Stillman. Flash has just returned from T Jam 2001, where he taught from his book The Cartoon Balloon Encyclopedia. His ideas of building cartoons by twisting simple modular pieces and then putting them together to create different cartoon characters has really taken off. Flash has been twisting balloons since the summer of 1989 and has taught at many conventions and balloon workshops throughout the world and we are all very privileged to have him here at Funny Business. The lecture is free to all Funny Business Clown members and only $5.00 to non-members. Bring your balloons and pumps and be ready to experience balloon twisting heaven.

LAST MONTH

In March we had very informative lecture on ventriloquism presented by Sharon "Melody" Munyon and what a fun time it was. She presented to us the basics of ventriloquism and demonstrated puppet manipulation and we all had the opportunity to experience ventriloquism first hand. She also did a short performance with Sassy, which was quite entertaining. She even fashioned Sherry and Me with a pair of big balloon lips and did an impromptu vent show with us as the dummies, squeezing our necks when she wanted us to open our mouths and then putting the words in our mouths. I felt like a political puppet. Thanks for sharing Melody! We loved you!

NEXT MONTH

In May we will have our annual elections and our swap meet. All members will get a free space to sell any clown related items that they don't need anymore. While non-members are welcome to join in the fun they will be charged $5.00 for a space. Any dealers are asked to pay 10 percent of what they sell, to Funny Business, to a maximum of $20.00. If you are a member and wish to run for an office please contact Sherry, the president, as we are formulating a list of prospective nominees for officers to present to the club on elections evening. We want to have a whole new board for next year, and Sherry and I do not plan on continuing as President and Vice-President as we plan to spend more time on our business and with each other.
