Charm the Clown with balloon scuptures

Carmen Tellez will be our instructor in Ballooning at our next meeting. For Carmen, being a clown is serious business. Since she took up clowing 13 years ago she has read countless book on the subject, attended clown association conventions and day courses on the art and even earned a diploma from the Mooseburger Clown Arts Education Camp in Minnesota.

Last Month

Last months class was taught by our very own Stacy Anderson. Stacy is a real asset to our club and showed one of many talents with sponge brushing make up techniques. She can make a face come alive right before your very eyes. I bet you didn't know you had Very eyes, did you?  We had make up for sale by Stacy,( what she paid for it); and House of Humor.  We would love to have her back; as she was cut short because of the new agenda we had to cover and vote on.

Wise Words From Wendy

Aloha from your President Wendy. I had a exciting time in Hawaii. Sandy and I worked while we were there too; for Clown Week. The Anaheim parade had Pom-Pom, Skippy Dee Klown, Boo-Boo, and Wendy as Betsy Ross to represent our Alley.  It was hot as usual that time of year; but fun. We hope to have more people involved next year; as we will have a face painting and balloon booth set up.

 July 4th parade

We have Carmen coming this next meeting and I encourage everyone who does ballooning to attend. I have no doubt she will WOW you...Unless you are a member and have paid your COAI and Funny Bus. dues; the class will be $15.00 at the door. Carmen has taught classes this summer at clown colleges and is a member of our Alley. You really don't want to miss this class. Thanks Carmen!
We voted to become WCA and COAI Alleys. Everyone must pay their 25.00 extra for me to send in our paper work to COAI. You will also get a magazine and a patch. The club will also get tapes and additional things to be involved in. WCA will be sending our packet soon. We have people who will be teaching this year and our board is excited about all the things we will all be learning. We hope to make this club the best it can be. Thank you for getting your dues in this next meeting.
We have some sad news from our Secretary" Sweetheart", Jackie Mc Doniel. Her husband William "Don" Mc Doniel passed away Sunday the 30th with complications from diabetes and difficult breathing. He had four heart attacks after receiving an antibiotic at the hospital. Don was a submarine Navy Vet and gave his service to our country for 20 years and after that he worked for Rockwell which became Boeing. He was a giving and good man and will be missed by all who knew him. He wrote manuals of how to put together jets and rockets among other things. He was really good with computers. He was going to go on dialysis next month and had lost his eye sight. Jackie had just bought a Toyota van Sienna XLE limited with Prem. package and loaded with DVD player, Navigation unit, rear view camera and sensors. Jackie bought it for them to travel and enjoy their life together. The only place they went was Las Vegas and had a great time together. The van has many more things on it and is practically new. Jackie said she wont need his remote chair and cool car she had just spent 70,000 for . I heard it's up for sale now for 55,000. Jackie has our prayers and if anyone would like to bring something in his honor to our meeting; please feel free to. Jackie we love you. You are in our thoughts today.

Hello COAI Members and Happy Clown Week! Title Balloons Around The Wold

On Wednesday, October 4th, 2006, balloon artists around the world will be taking part in an event designed to highlight the art of giving, to deliver thousands of smiles, and to showcase the art of balloon twisting and decorating.  It is called BALLOONS AROUND THE WORLD, and you can take part!  Most people are able to participate on that day, but people are welcome to fit it into their schedule anytime during that week.  And WHY ARE YOU DOING IT?  When someone receives a spontaneous gift, it brightens their day.  When their day is brighter, they spread it onto others.  Children & adults love balloon art.  What better way to showcase the magic of balloon sculpture and make the world a better place, both at the same time!  HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?  If you are a balloon artist, please go to the Sign up! Page, fill out the appropriate blanks, and you’re in! It is www.balloonhq.com/batw There is no registration fee, and all participating artists will get a free “Official Artist” button.  All you need to do is to contact a good cause in your community, arrange a time and place, be there and have fun!  They are in their seventh year!  During the first 6 years people participated for free and donations.

           Red Nose Relief Logo

WITH MORE & MORE DISASTERS HAPPENING AROUND THE WORLD, RED NOSE RELIEF IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER.

As almost 800 clown responders who came together following the land fall of Hurricane Katrina last year have continued our organizational efforts, it became clear that our original name was not going to effectively support the mission statement and fundraising/marketing efforts that were agreed upon.  After a considerable period of reflection & marketing surveys, the Red Nose Relief board has decided to change the name to RED NOSE RESPONSE.  “It is much more reflective of what we do!  We respond to disaster situations, and we provide comic relief, if in fact that’s what is called for when we are on the scene” several board members were overheard as saying during a recent conference call.  The website and internal materials will be updated to reflect the name change in the next several weeks.

Nationwide, Red Nose Response Responders have had a busy spring and summer with Responders providing relief during storms and tornadoes in the Midwest, storms and floods in New England, storms and floods in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia, extended power outages in the St. Louis, Missouri and New York City areas, fires in Arizona and California.

We need people in California to start taking the Red Cross Course so we will be ready to respond when we are needed.  GET INVOLVED AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!   Pam House – State-Coordinator – RED NOSE RESPONSE.
