Funny Business Update

A lot has happened since our last meeting in October. The November meeting was cancelled by a vote at our October meeting due to the Western Regional Clown Association Convention in Laughlin, as many of our members would be there and not available to come to the meeting. In fact, one of our members, our own V.P. - Nan Miller, walked away with two awards at the WRCA Convention. She took first place in Character with her Farmer's Daughter and second place in Paradability Competition with her "Pet Peeve". CONGRATULATIONS TO NAN!!!!!!!!
If you haven't heard yet we deposited $341.00 (after expenses) from the Rodeo event in late September that our club participated in. They did not require us to pay anything for the booth but at the October meeting it was voted to donate $50.00 to them because it was a charity event. A special thanks to all the clowns who worked at the Rodeo that weekend: Toni, Carmen, Bob, Becky, Dena, Paulette, Susan and Jackie! Bob Keeler was presented with a trophy at the Oct. meeting for "Outstanding Clown" at the Rodeo.
Another vote was taken at the Oct. meeting to donate a Thank-You gift of at least $100.00 to church where we normally hold our meetings. There will a basket at the Christmas Party for people to contribute to this gift. Everyone is encouraged to be generous to the church for allowing us a wonderful place to have our meetings.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Our Christmas Party will be on our regular meeting day December 10th at 7:00 P.M., however it WILL NOT BE AT THE CHURCH. It will be at Becky Goodyear's beautiful home in La Palma. I wish to thank Becky, from all of us, for extending her most gracious hospitality to the club and allowing it to have the Christmas Party at her home. Funny Business is providing the ham and the paper goods and Nan and Dena will be calling each member to find out what appetizer, side dish, salad or dessert you would like to bring. Instead of a gift exchange, it was decided that each member, bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to the Rex Hudler Toy Drive. Rex is the TV broadcaster for the Anaheim Angels. He, along with the Angels Booster Club, have this annual Toy Drive culminating with a luncheon on December 15th at 2:00 P.M.. Dena will be at the luncheon to present the donated toys to Rex on behalf of our Club and she told the Booster Club that she would get as many of our members as possible to be part of the toy presentation. What a unique opportunity! If you would like to be there, please let Dena know as she needs to know how many clowns will be coming. One last thing about our Christmas Party- it was suggested instead of having an "Open Mike", we should do Karaoke. Does anyone have a Karaoke machine we can use? Please contact Dena if you do or can arrange for one for our use. Click here for direction to Party

Special Announcement

The 1st Friday of December is the Seal Beach Christmas Parade. It's a really fun parade that starts at the Seal Beach Pier and ends at PCH and if you wish to participate, just be there in clown, at 6:00 P.M. at the beginning of the pier. You can give out candy at this parade to the kids and it's a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. Molly and Ritz will be there and there is usually 6 or more other clowns participating.
What a great way to practice your Paradability!
Good news! There's going to be a Clown Convention called the "Great Clown Adventure", Feb. 17-21, 2002 in Las Vegas. It will feature Master Clown Frosty Little, Eric Zander, Tricia Bothun (Mooseburger), Joe Barney, Jose Rivera, Karen Bell and many more top-notch performers and dealers. We'll have the Registration info at the meeting, but if you need more info call Tricia at (320) 963-6277 or e-mail her at Pricilla@ mooseburger.com
Dena asked me to attach this "quiz" from Laugh Makers Magazine and she thought this would be a good time to evaluate "How's my Clown Doing?" There are no grades and no teacher to turn it into, just a fun useful thing for you to do. If you receive this in your e-mail, the quiz will be a separate attachment. If snail mail it is below. As always, if you have any problem receiving or opening any attachments that I send in the newsletter, do not hesitate to e-mail me at ritzone@ hotmail.com . Have a great Holiday!
