Pom-Pom's Patter

Hi fellow Funny Business members and friends,
I apologize for getting the the news letter out so late this month. I was confused about the date and thought I had more time, what can I say as a clown I live in the state of confusion.

I wanted to remind you to dress warmly for our meeting as the room can be cold. It would be best if you layered in case it warms up.

The bad news is that I was unable to get the class I wanted. I was fourth on the waiting list and the teacher only took the first three. The good news of course is that I will be able to be at the meetings. The other bad news is that the face-painting jams at Home Town Buffet have been moved to Santa Ana on our meeting nights. The other good news is that all of our checks have been deposited in our account. Coming up at our next meetings, we will have a costume designer and a Magician.

See you at our meeting, Pom-Pom

This Month's Knock Knock Joke

Knock, knock

Who's there? Wendy.

Wendy who?

Wendy wind blows de cradle will rock.

This Month's Meeting

Our guest for the month will be Jim Militello who will teach us step by step directions for making animals out of beads. This is a great alternative if you are not allowed to make balloon animals. Jim know how to make over 35 different animals. He will also be selling his lecture notes complete with beads. He was also kind enough to video one of our lectures.

Jim has over 25 years of experience in the Magical Arts field. His specialty is in Parlor Magic and with small stage illusions. He is requested for conventions, private parties, etc., because of his adeptness from prior conventions and parties. James has a never-ending style of various magical effects. He has continued his learning skills in close up magical effects. He has numerous magical effects and apparatuses that will be marketed in the next few years.

Klinko's Kolumn

Hi all you Funny Clowns!

What a fun Holiday party!!! Thanks to all of you who came and for your contributions to our feast.  The fellowship was fantastic! The food and laughter were contagious. The karaoke was entertaining.

The surprise visit from BooBoo the Cheerful gift exchange elf was a big hit!!!!!! Thank you BooBoo! Many of you walked away with some very special presents.  No matter what, we all had a lot of fun!

So now,......Happy New Year! Twenty Ten, I like the way that sounds. What does the new year have in store for you? For me a new year means get your act together! Freshen up, renew, rejuvenate, reinvent, get organized and get ready for what ever may come your way.  I know that times have been hard for many of you, including me and my family.

My husband got laid off his job of 33 years with the Los Angeles Times. Just goes to show you the only sure thing you can depend on is yourself. So, You, get creative. Think outside of your clown boxes and see where you could make some money using the talents you have.  Consider taking a class and learn something new.  Get inspired. What better time to start but with a NEW Year! Think of a new character or make a new costume.  It will make you want to go out and find a new market to entertain in. Everywhere you go pass out your business cards and let people know that you can make anything much more fun with a balloon, or face paint or a clown skit.  Barter your services with businesses in your communities. Most importantly stay positive and don't give up to hard times.   Remember that Laughter is good medicine. Treat yourself to a dose and share it with those around you. Help each other out. Encourage one another.  Express thanks whenever a good thing comes into your life. Somehow, there's always something to be thankful about!  Hope that you'll find many things in your life that fill you with thankfulness this year. Enjoy these thankful quotes and I will see you soon.

*Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.

*Difficulties are opportunities to better things; they are stepping stones to greater experience.

*Gratitude is something of which none of us can give too much. For on the smiles, the thanks we give, our little gestures of appreciation, our neighbors build their philosophy of life.

*Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.

*Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.

*If you haven’t all the things you want, be grateful for the things you don’t have that you wouldn’t want.

*It isn't what you have in your pocket that makes you thankful, but what you have in your heart.

*Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.

*When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.

*You won't be happy with more until you're happy with what you've got.

"Thank you God for all the blessings and abundance in my life!"

COAI by Candy

Hi Funny Business members and all those who are COAI members!
What a great Christmas party Karla put on, she outdid herself again!  Happy New Year and here’s hoping that 2010 is a much better year than 2009!  Just a reminder, anyone who is a COAI member (Clowns of America International) and is interested in being a part of the committee for the 2011 Convention being held at the Paradise Pier Hotel in Disneyland, I will need to know your email address so that I can establish a Yahoo Egroup to keep the committee informed of all activity.  And remember, COAI and other clown organizations do offer scholarships for those interested in attending conventions for clown education, you just need to make sure you get it in before March 1st of this year.  The website and other Egroup areas of COAI are changing and I will keep everyone informed as they come in.  In the meantime, see me if you need help with anything, including becoming a member of Clowns of America International if you are not one already.  See you soon!

Candy “Butterscotch” Will

COAI Southwest Regional Vice President and Junior Joey Chair

Attention everyone! Pat Roeser, the COAI Director of Conventions is coming out in February around the 18th and would like to meet up with all committee members for the 2011 convention. She is trying to set up a meeting at the hotel itself. Pleas let me know asap if you are able to make it to the meeting. Thanks! Candy “Butterscotch” Will
