THIS MONTH

Our next meeting will be on July 9th and we will be having a special workshop presented by Dena, our president. Dena has been clowning 'forever' and you all have the chance to pick her brains and learn from some of her past experiences. You are sure to walk away with several good ideas that will improve your clown performance and help eliminate some problems that may be bugging you about your clowning to make clowning even more fun than it can be. Come support your club! If you have not paid your dues, only $12.00 for the year, they were due last month. Please pay at the meeting or you can mail your payment to our Treasurer, Becky, @ 5031 Sausalito Circle, La Palma, Ca. 90623.

LAST MONTH

Our June meeting was an interesting workshop presented by Linda Hulet, a.k.a., Shylo, P.J., or Gladys, and what an educational experience it was! It was titled: "A Class for New Clowns and a Reminder for the Seasoned Clowns". She presented a lecture on dozens of issues that are important to your clowning and gave us lots of tips that are totally invaluable. After her lecture she opened up the floor for any questions about any clowning issues from a list of well over 100 items and all were able to get answers on how to best deal with those issues. All that attended seem to really enjoy the lecture as the discussion overflowed into the parking lot after the meeting.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Next month we want to begin a regular section in the newsletter called " Question of the Month". Call or E-mail Dena (underthebigtop@ earthlink.net) with a question and she'll have several experts in that particular field give their answers. (If you E-mail, be sure to tag your subject line "Funny Business".)

PRESIDENT'S NOTES

I hope that you are all having a great beginning to your summer. This seems to be a busy time for most clowns. With this in mind, I do hope you all will take a few hours for our monthly meeting. I'm going to have some new and different ideas and things happening each meeting, so why not come and see what surprises are in store? We have some very exciting activities for the month of July, starting off with the 4th of July Parade in Anaheim Hills. The monthly meeting will be a continuation of "Back to Basics" presented by yours truly - me. Last month Linda talked about many things such as clown behavior, ethics and standards. My topics will be presented visually. I even heard that there may be an appearance by a special quest or two. We were going to close out the month with workshop presented by Steve Kissell, the producer and co-producer of many successful conventions and workshops for entertainers, but alas, there was a scheduling conflict and he's unable to make it on the date we had available. Back to the drawing board - we're going to have some great workshops coming up to be announced later.
