THE FUNNIES November 5, 2000 Volume 10, Number 6 LAST MONTH Our “clown auction” was a great success and more fun than anyone imagined. Many of us bought some very special collectors items and there was a multitude of good useful things auctioned off. We were able get a Bozo the Clown telephone, to add to our Bozo collection and there were many grab bags that Penny stuffed full of all kinds of interesting things that caused quite a bidding ruckus. Michael Van Horn did a wonderful job as our auctioneer (THANKS MICHAEL) and his sense of humor and showmanship worked well with my clowning around salesmanship. Our club raised $52.00 from the auction, coupled with the 50/50 drawing. What a fun experience, you should have been there!  THIS MONTH We are going to have a truly  remarkable lecture this month! Jim Lewis will be here to give us a lecture on storytelling. Jim has been storytelling for over 12 years and has been the Santa for Nordstrom’s for 20 years. It’s going to be a very entertaining lecture, full of important information we can all use in  your entertaining and personal lives. Don’t miss this chance to see Jim, he’s one of the best. Members are not charged for any lecture, but to help defray the costs, non-members will be charged $5.00 to attend this lecture or you can become a member by paying  $7.00 for membership dues (pro-rated) which will make you a member until  May 31st 2001. After December 2000 only members will receive “The Funnies”. Help support the club, JOIN TODAY!                          SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS The Seal Beach Christmas Parade will be on December 1st .  Be at the end of the pier by 6:30 P.M. Bring lots of candy for the kids. JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ   We will have a 50/50 drawing each month and we’d like to have a raffle, too. We need your donations of items for the raffle.      FUTURE FUNNY BUSINESS It has occurred to us that our club needs by-laws to help organize it and protect it from outside influences. We are drafting a set of by-laws that we will present to the club in December for voting. In order to vote you must be a member in good standing for at least three months and you must be present. We will have a short meeting at our December Christmas Potluck Party and be voting on the by-laws then.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE  It has always been a dream of mine to become affiliated with a clown association as an alley and I'm currently working on a plan to present to the club to vote on . I feel that this will help the club grow and increase the education and art of clowning in our club. This will not change the club much over what it is right now, as we already are an alley, we just aren't affiliated with any organization.
