Greetings from the Prez Box
Thanks to everyone who participated
in last months meeting. Our special thanks to Pom-Pom who provided
us with a great meal , everyone always loves CHILI and the Banana
cake for dessert was a sweet ending to a good meal. Thanks again Pom-Pom.
Well last month was a great time for face painting. We had CANDY WILL,
PAT PRICKETT, BECKY JOHNSON, all demonstrating their own techniques
for face painting. Pat created one of the cutest clown face for one
of our audience (so great I used it last weekend ) Candy demonstrated
to everyone how easy it is to create a beautiful butterfly using sponges
and brush strokes, Becky created a very simple full tigers face. Everyone
was also able to try different types of facepaints as well as there
was plenty of supplies for purchase made possible by " House
of Humor".
Well last month we discussed
our Christmas party and we are in need of a committee to help decorate
. The club will be donating a HAM and DRINKS and we will be having
a gift exchange. We will have a sign up sheet for all to sign up for
what they would like to bring. Also we will have the address and directions
on our November and December Newsletter for all members. Remember
this will be our last meeting till our Christmas party, so lets spread
the word to everyone for our next meeting. Which I am very excited
to announce that we will be having a special lecture as well as puppet
show. If you are interested in learning the art of puppeteering or
learning how to create shows or where to go for the resources. You
will not want to miss this months meeting There will be a $5.00 charge
for non members or $18.00 to become a member. So please get there
early cause I believe we may have a full house as well many visitors.
Alice Saucedo will be providing our dinner, and last time it was so
good , I had to buy seconds to take home with me. Well enough of that
let me introduce you to our next months special guest....

TIP OF THE MONTH
It seems that almost every meeting someone
is asking that question we all have asked at one time or another. HOW
DO YOU CARE FOR YOUR CLOWN OUTFIT? Well here's what we do at our clown
home. We now have more than one outfit. We have expensive stage outfits,
homemade outfits, hand me down outfits and inexpensive outfits. Our
stage outfits go directly to the cleaners, (tip..of course we don't
dry clean them every time we use them) Our accessories for these outfits
get cleaned every time..like socks, tights, undershirts, tee shirts,
turtle necks, dickeys, I think you get the point. We also wash our homemade
outfits and inexpensive outfits. Now let me share what I do. I fill
a sink full of tepid water, I have a bar of laundry soap (This is a
product from Mexico, I will bring to meeting to share since I don't
recall name) I then soak any clothing parts that need gentle scrubbing..like
collar, bottom of socks, cuffs, seat of bloomers..etc. I then wet the
bar of soap and gently scrub the wet area one at a time. At the end
I rinse the soapy area and repeat leaving in the soap this time. I turn
all shirts, bloomers, inside out and throw into a washer filled with
cold water and woolite. I place all socks, tights, dickies, bibs in
a mesh laundry bag and throw into the washer and proceed to wash in
gentle cycle. I hang dry all shirts bloomers, skirts bibs, and only
dry the socks and tights and dickies and turtle necks in low heat in
dryer. Some of our outfits are 7 years old and people always comment
how great they look and we want them to last so we can buy more and
have a large selection to work with. Well I hope this helps. I will
be happy to answer any questions you may still have. If there is a topic
you would like covered in next months; TIP OF THE MONTH please e-mail
or call me or anyone of the board members and we will be happy to discuss
it.
