This MonthOCTOBER LECTURENOW YOU SEE IT, NOW YOU DON'T! Our October guest speaker hails from Orange County and his name is Ken Sands. His magic shop is MAGIC GALORE AND MORE, which is located behind lanes 38 & 39 (ask him what that means at the meeting). He has done magic professionally for 18 years and has a great sense of humor and wit. And he is very active in outreach.com out of San Diego. I have seen some of his presentations at other clubs I belong to and he has a lot to offer. Be sure to attend to watch his presentation
of magic tricks. You will learn LOTS!

DECEMBER HOLIDAY PARTY! Our December meeting will be our annual Holiday Party that will be held at Wendy Olson's home in Yorba Linda. Our club provides the ham, drinks and paper goods. Everyone is to bring a dish plus a $5 - $10 gift for the gift exchange. We will have our sign up sheet for food at our October meeting. Be sure to sign up. And we do need a chairperson for this event to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Our meetings need to start on time. The doors open at 6:30 P.M. and we must start the meeting at exactly 7 P.M. Last month I was ready to start the meeting at exactly 7 P.M. There were myself, my father, and one other person in the room. Butterscotch was working the sign-in table and Pom-Pom was trying to get people to come into the meeting. We have the business portion of the meeting, then the eating for those who want to eat and finally the demonstration. The later that we run, the less time that we can give to the demonstrator. All-American Balloon closes up at 9 P.M. We need to be out of there at 9 P.M. And we do not want to cut the demonstrator short as that is rude. I will start our October meeting at 7 P.M.
even if my dad and I are the only ones in the room at the time. Try
to be courteous and on time. Your club and its reputation is only as
good as you make it.

SEPTEMBER 8, 2004 MINUTES The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. Sherry Newberg requested extra newsletters for her store for advertising and possibly new members. We discussed having adds put in the newsletter to bring in extra money. Outside vendors could put in their business cards and such (e.g.. Magic & Costume shops, etc.). It was left up to our newsletter editor, Paulette Rosen to decide what she wants to do. Our Treasurer, Candy Will gave the treasurer's report and our balance in the bank is $2,657.37. Paulette Rosen spoke about our web page - clownpages.com. A motion was passed for Paulette to decide if she wishes to charge a fee to non-members for putting their "personal clown" information in our clown directory. Candy Will, regional COAI Vice President, made a plug for COAI members to keep their dues paid up so they can keep getting the Calliope magazine. She discussed the COAI insurance which costs $186 per year and also includes regional parks and beaches. On November 14, 2004 our club is hosting the fundraiser - Peachey University staring Peachey Keene the clown. Club members may get it cheaper by paying $25 in advance while it is $40 paid at the door. Candy Will and Pam House will bring the food for the October 11th meeting. Wendy Olson volunteered her home for our December Holiday party/pot luck. The club provides ham, drinks and paper goods. Everyone is to bring some food and a nice $5 - $10 gift for our gift exchange. We will discuss and vote at our October meeting if the club needs a P.O. Box. We got a flyer for Clown's Day in Lynwood on December 9th. President Pam discussed costs for taking the bus to the Laughlin Clown Convention. And Mama Clown will have a face painting competition there. Sherry Newberg talked about her clown gig and showed us the article about it and her in the newspaper. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00PM for our food break & shopping. The meeting concluded with a lecture from Burt Rosen. The topic was: "INTERNET, FRIEND OR FOE?"
