This Month

Our next speaker will be Skippy Dee Klown, (aka) Stan Edwards.  He will be helping us with walk around ideas for routines, including ideas with a squeakier, so bring your squeakier and a glove plus lots of great ideas to share.  Skippy will also bring other things you can do so open your creative minds and take home new fun things to do with your audience.

Skippy Dee Klown got his start with RBB&B Circus, he has also performed with King Royal circus, Funs a Poppen circus and with his friend and partner Bruce "Charlie the clown" Johnson put on a circus for the Sacramento Star.  Skippy has performed at several fairs including the Orange County Fair.  Skippy has been with other clubs such as the Klassic Klowns, The Laughs on Us where he was President for each club.  Skippy hopes that you will take home a lot of great ideas with you!

Last Month

We got a lot of ideas from Pat Wilson. She is a great Mother Goose too. Those of you who missed her lost out on a lot of fun and creative ways to spark the storyteller in you. She got me wanting to get my puppets out again and bring back the fun. She also talked on her insurance with WCA. She has been around clowning and can tell you many stories of what and where we had past events. We did have it on a sad day 9-11; but we clowns are here to cheer up and I'm sure some of you were. Thanks Pat, from all or us at Funny Business.!

We also talked about Candy entering us in the bid for our alley to do a Conference here in our area ! I for one said it would be a great idea. I have all kinds of ideas and I know Candy does too; and all of us can do it. I have wanted this to happen for 10 years; wouldn't it be sweet?  There are teachers from all over who I know would love to come and help us. COAI will be a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.   Let it Shine, Wendy

Wise Words from Wendy

I wrote to Pam House and sent her your prayers too. Her Dad passed, after many long nights in Malibu. Pam's dad, Bob; also known as Snickers brought smiles to everyone he met. Pam would take him on all her jobs. I think that was so special they shared Gods love together. Pam said his ashes will be scattered at sea, by the Navy

I sent a card to one of our original members of Funny Business Dena Piraino with all our prayers from the meeting. It really touched her and tears rolled up in our eyes as we talked about her Mom.She lost her Mom; who made costumes for a lot of us. I loved my bloomers she made me and was so excited; I showed everyone I met. Margaret was a Mom who gave everyone a smile. You couldn't help but love her; and she never made you feel unimportant. She had to quit sewing; and that was sad for her. Her heart was into helping others. I for one and I know many will miss her. Dena said she would love to come later on and teach a class or help in any way.

The Placentia Parade is on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Tri-City Park, 2301 N. Kraemer Blvd. Line-up begins at 8:30 and parade starts at 9:30. Community of Champions is the theme. I thought we all do things for the community in clown and characters and that is what we need to be in. We will have a booth and opportunity to walk about after the parade; (which ends at the park). Contact Wendy at 714-524-2897 I still have to see how much or what the booth will be and maybe the money we get will have to go for that; and what we make at the booth goes to the club. I usually just have them pay me or do it free. I want to help the club out and will make it this way this time. Please do some parade ability things. If you need ideas call me. Bubbles are good (be silly and say I'm a Jacuzzi or(mom said to wash up) I'm a washing machine, or the fake flower you go up to people with, and when they reach for it they get a stem, rope magic throw and disappear, or free birds; and give out spare O's (little brown ones or big ones thrown out( I do this with my bird book to show after the parade), or free chickens and do a fire drill screaming and after parade make some chickens for kids out of napkins , signs with a bit,  a flag, tricycle etc. I like to throw out Frisbees with whatever character stickers I am or put my business sticker. I take plastic lids or tops of cat & dog cans (no edges) .When I was Betsy Ross I put flag stickers and threw them out to the kids and played catch. I made some for the Anaheim parade for everyone. Have your number on it or address label with number. Think about the theme, clown stickers would be OK too. (Please only throw one at a time and throw low and down). Get creative & let it shine

COAI News by Candy

Hello COAI clown alley members! In case it hasn't been mentioned before, Clowns of America International offers 100 percent alleys many benefits.  COAI believes in recognizing all 100 percent alleys with awards for participation as a group for International Clown Week held the first week of August every year.  If a 100 percent alley sends all newsletters to the editor, and is considered the best, there is a Newsletter Award.  If a 100 percent alley decides to do a workshop of several days, the alley can request a grant for up to $500 to defray costs.  COAI 100 percent alleys can bid on hosting a convention, and if selected, will receive help from the COAI director of conventions.  Money is given to the alley to help cover costs and all but $10 per person goes back to the alley from profit.  Most importantly, educational cds and booklets are available at a discounted rated for 100 percent alleys.  There are many benefits to Clowns of America International and if you would like to read more, visit the website at: http://www.coai.org I look forward to making this a great COAI alley! Title Last Walk Around

Bob “SNIKKERS” House passed away in Malibu on August 30th, just 2 days before his 84th birthday.  He left behind his daughter’s Pam & Joey, his son’s Roger & Russ, grandson Ryan, Powder the rabbit and also left behind his clown family and all of the hearts of the people that he touched in his lifetime.  He was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin and WWII and the Navy brought him to Long Beach where he was discharged.  He married his fiancée Genevieve (also from Milwaukee) who was in the Coast Guard and also discharged in Long Beach.  His career as a mechanical engineer started with a valve company for 14 years and the rest of his career span aerospace jobs starting at North American Aviation with the Apollo program and ending his career at Northrop on the B-2/Stealth.  After his wife’s passing in 1999, he joined his daughter Pam “TWINKLES d’ KLOWN” as “SNIKKERS” where he actively went out with his daughter on gigs with the VOLUNTEER CLOWNS OF ORANGE COUNTY, “We Give Thanks, Inc.” with La Casa Garcia Restaurant and various other gigs through the Community Outreach Program at the Crystal Cathedral where he attended.  He wanted a Navy Burial and his ashes will go out to sea in November in San Diego on the USS RONALD REAGAN with a full Military (21 gun salute & all) funeral.  And his ashes will be put to sea on Veterans Day. He will always be remembered for his HUGS, SMILES, and passing out stickers to everyone he met.  SNIKKERS is still passing out his stickers in Heaven!
