At last month's meeting we saw an incredible magic show. I want to thank Sherry "Molly" Newberg for the wonderful magic show and all of her information and tips on using animal in your magic show. This month Pam House will be showing us how to do some of the many fantastic balloons she has learned that have enable her to get more bookings for shows and parties.

Because so many members will be attending the WCRA Clown Convention in Laughlin, in November, there will not be a meeting in November.
I would also like to send my best wishes to those members of our clown club who have been having a tough time lately. You know who you are.

This Month's Meeting

OCTOBER 2009 DEMONSTRATION This month we are getting into balloons. How many people like the ocean and sea life? Well, I will be showing you how to make an octopus hat and with bubbles no less. This is a Don “Buster Balloon” Caldwell idea. And Ken “FLASH” Stillman has his “basic concept fish” which is not your ordinary fish. You will like this one so ALWAYS keep white 5 inch round balloons for eyes for various characters, even your basic balloon animals. This one will be fun and basically easy to do.

And the ladies always like flowers. So at the balloon convention back in February, I was taught how to make a bee but with one added extra thing that makes the bee special. I will teach that. Bee’s do love flowers. And Sandi Masori of “Balloon Utopia” does a wonderful wrist corsage. This takes time to learn but I will show the basics and you just need to practice, practice, & practice.

And any and all of you bring your balloons and pumps and PUT ON YOU THINKING CAPS. If you have a balloon that you do all the time that would be your so called “signature balloon”, then get up and show us how you do it. We all have things that we can teach other. Hi Everyone and Happy Holidays to you!
That's right. With Thanksgiving just around the corner and the Holidays approaching quickly it's that time again....For our annual Funny Business Holiday party! This year the party will be held at the Vice President's House! Karla "Klinko" the klown's house. That's right, I'm your hostess for the evening.

The party is for all members of Funny Business, so please mark your calendars for Monday, December 14 , 2009, at 6:00pm. The address is 31131 Via Cordova, San Juan Capistrano. Directions will be listed at the end of my column. The club will be providing a ham, Turkey, drinks, paper goods, and a few miscellaneous snacks. The remainder of food will be potluck style.

Please rsvp to me, Karla, (949) 496-5073 as to what you would like to bring. We will need side dishes, salads, desserts, main dishes, casseroles etc. We will play games, sing carols if you feel like it and that will be the warm up for KARAOKE!! That's right we will have a karaoke contest. So get those vocal chords tuned and ready.

Please bring an unwrapped gift for a child as we will donate them to Toys for Tots from the club... It's guaranteed to be a fun and festive party. Please call and RSVP by December 1st! See you all soon!

Take the 405 South to the 5 south and follow the directions below.

From the 5-
Take the 5 South into south Orange County through Mission Viejo, etc. Take the Ortega Hwy (74) exit. Turn left (heading East towards Lake Elsinore) Very Important - Speed limit is 40 on Ortega Highway! It's a speed trap. Go about 1.2 miles to Via Cordova (where Ortega goes from 2 lanes to 1) Turn right Klinko lives a block and a half down on the right hand side: 31131 Via Cordova - You can't miss it! There'll be a nativity on the front lawn.

Hey you COAI and WRCA Clowns!
November is getting here fast and that means the Western Regional Clown Association convention! The theme this year is “Over the Rainbow” and that isn’t just for Dorothy, Toto and the Wizard, think up some cool ideas for the theme party. It’s always fun to get creative so let’s see some great theme costumes! On a sad note, the Hobo stew WRCA does every year has been canceled due to the lack of participation of the local hotels. But there is going to be more time dedicated to open mike instead, so if anyone has skits or performances they have always wanted to do but didn’t like to compete, this is the place to do it! Also the next Clowns of America International convention will be held in Houston Texas this year. I’ll be heading out to the board meeting just before WRCA so if there are any concerns about COAI that you would like to have addressed or ideas, let me know before I go. Write me a proposal and I’ll be glad to share it with the board. See you all soon!

On the THIRD THURSDAY of October each year, all of us can join the millions of Californians who will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in The Great California Shake Out, the largest earthquake drill ever.  This is important because to act quickly, you must practice often.  As most people know, you may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down and or something falls on you.
