PICKLES SAYS

Re-Cap: At the last meeting we welcomed Adrea Gibbs as our featured speaker. Adrea has a remarkable background in theater and entertainment in general from Disney to Broadway Musicals. She shared many terrific stories and then we opened up the floor to questions. Creativity was the main topic as we talked about how to get creative juices flowing, and "off the wall" sources we might use to get information for personal projects. Adrea recited something at the beginning of her talk that had us cracking up. Many requested a copy and she sent it to me so there will be copies for everyone at the next meeting which will be on September 10th at our usual location at 7:00 P.M..

SOMETHING NEW!

There will be something new added to our agenda at meetings. This will be a short time for sharing something that you have discovered that would benefit the rest of the group. We have been doing this informally but we would like to set aside specific time and encourage everyone to contribute.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Our club will be participating in a booth for face painting and balloons at the rodeo on September 28, 29 & 30th at Glen Helen Regional Park. Many of us were interested in working as a group to make some money for Funny Business and we will be carpooling. If you want to help out it is not too late, contact Becky @ (714) 995-4595 right away. One of the requirements is that you have a "menu" of your work. At the Sept. meeting Dena will have supplies to help you make a menu for face painting but you must bring your own face paints. Another requirement is that you attend the Sept. meeting. We will divide into two groups to work on twisting and face painting. If you do not know if your work is "sellable" just be honest with yourself, would you pay for it? This is a fantastic opportunity for us to work together and also do something for the club! The Sept. meeting will not be only for those working the rodeo. Everyone is welcome but keep in mind that the focus will be on balloons, face painting and making menus.

PRESIDENT'S NOTES

It's "Back to School" time! And in a sense, that means us too. Our Sept. meeting/workshop will be a "class" on face painting and balloon twisting. This is in preparation for the rodeo the Becky referred to in her article. We have to know who will be going on which days and co-ordinate the logistics. We will also discuss how much to charge for our face painting and balloons. The rodeo is not charging us for the booth, but we will be donating a percentage of what we make to the Boy and Girl Scouts, the group they have chosen to give all Rodeo proceeds to. It will be our way of saying THANKS!
Even if you don't plan on participating in the rodeo, please do come to the meeting. We have another surprise for one lucky member. But you'll have to be there to get the surprise. See you all on Sept. 10th.
