FUNNY BUSINESS 08/10/09 MEETING MINUTES

President Paulette Rosen opened the meeting at 7:12PM.  There were 22 people present.

Secretary Pam House welcomed everyone to the meeting and told them to say their name and speak clearly when they were speaking.

Treasurer Werner Adachi stated that we would be opening a new bank account at Chase Bank.

OLD BUSINESS

Bob Sherinian “TINY” spoke about National Night Out that the club participated in.  We had a booth and seven (7) clowns were there and did balloons the whole evening.  There were a lot of people at the event and the clowns were kept busy.  They could have used more clowns.

The July 4th parade in Anaheim Hills was where some of our clowns participated in.  We got a $100 check.  “Dolly” from Classic Clowns of Whittier was part of our group and we voted unanimously to give her $25 for participating  with our club in the parade.

OLD MINER DAYS – SKIPPY DEE CLOWN participated in this event.  He almost died – he overheated and he was doused with water.  It was 103F degrees that day.

NEW BUSINESS

Next month Karla said she would talk to BOO-BOO and ask if she will do her bubble show at the meeting.

President Paulette said that on the newsletters that she sends out “Snail Mail”, we are going to need the people to pay for their own postage.  We took a vote and the vote was unanimous for the members that get the newsletter by “Snail Mail” to pay for their own postage.

We had a guest, Leona, from the Seal Beach Leisure World Joy Klowns at the meeting.  Welcome Leona.

There was a motion by Ann Guenther to end the meeting.  Ann Marie Chenhalls seconded the motion.  The business portion of the meeting ended at 7:30PM

DEMONSTRATION

The demonstration was done by Ricardo Trejo (“RICKY RICARDO”) and Yazmin Garcia (FIESTA THE CLOWN).  Ricky did some juggling.  Then they both showed us how to put on our make-up for a clown face.  This demonstration ended at 8:30PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Pam  House

Red Nose Response

As we all have noticed, we are having many wildfires locally and in northern California. I have been on the telephone with various Red Cross chapters trying to get to shelters and volunteer areas as RED NOSE RESPONSE to work with/help the evacuee’s and the volunteers. I have not been very successful. But a friend from church got me with some other church people in a fire area and I went there last week and helped pass out fresh baked goods to the fireman fighting the fires. That was good.

I am now working with the Los Angeles Red Cross to get some of our clowns (Red Nose Responders) into any shelters or in other volunteer areas that may still be open at this date. I do not know if they will let us in but you may contact me for any information I will be getting. Please keep anyone involved with the fires and the evacuee’s in your thoughts and prayers. – Pam House- State Coordinator – RED NOSE RESPONSE (562) 431-5785
